Who We Are

Center for Information Technology (CIT) Nepal is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization working on ICT for development and social transformation. It was established in 2004 by a group of volunteers and experts working on different sectors, including information technology, legal and government, agriculture, education and others.

Since its establishment, the organization has focused on ICT with other areas of social services such as education, health, agriculture and governance.  Through different activities and advocacy, CIT has been able to make positive changes on people’s attitude towards information technology on social transformation.

CIT Nepal started working in most conflict-affected districts such as Rukum and Bardiya when the Maoist insurgency was on the rise, establishing rural telecenters having own VSAT for internet connectivity. CIT expanded its programs to include 10 different districts with the help of different national and international collaborators.

A team of professionals and experts is working for CIT Nepal in the areas of advocacy, policy processes, governance, gender and social issues, innovation systems, knowledge management, publication, critical analysis and others.
